Dear Members,

Server: Windows Server 2012 Standard.

NIC1: Domain Controller - Local Static IP. e.g 10.10.10.204,255.255.255.0,10.10.10.203(gateway to old 2008 server).

NIC2: Internet - DHCP, Autometic IP.

I have created a new VM for Windows Server 2003 R2.

I want to make this VM to all physical Network. the need is to avail some Old compatible Apps to current domain users.

Please guide how to configure Networks without loosing current Domain Network which is Static,Local.

Hi all

We are running Hyper V 2012 R2 Failover Cluster on Dell M620 Blade servers with 10 G Broad-com network Card,

with Separate network traffic Live Migration , CSV and Virtual Machines. VMQ is disable .

Suddenly we are facing Network break issue for a time being on Virtual machines and gets stable after few minutes.

All drivers and firmware's are up to date. Please Suggest.

Activating virtual servers on hyper-v 2012 R2

Hi all,

I purchased two windows server 2012 R2 standard edition licenses. I downloaded and install the evaluation and then activated using the licenses I purchased. No problems there.

as I understand with windows server 2012 R2 standard edition, I should get to install 2 virtual servers free of charge, which I have done so already on each server using hyper-v, except I am not able to activate them as of yet.

so how should this be done or how can I activate those VMs or what's the correct way to do it without having to purchase 4 additional licenses?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I have a shared storage with an existing VM on it (Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V Failover Cluster). I plan to make this storage a CSV.

Is it safe to do this or will I lose my VM?

Thank you & Kind regards,

Hi all.

Can somebody please advise me?

I have a Windows SBS2011 server running Hyper V

I have the following situation

192.168.0.2 will open IIS7 on the Windows Server (Internal Internet)

82.xx.xxx.xx will also open IIS7 on the Windows Server (External Internet)

Hyper V has an Apache 2 installation and is on 192.168.0.19

192.168.0.19 will open the Apache 2 welcome page (Internal Internet)

82.xx.xxx.xx ??? Now I am not sure where I have to go to get access to the Apache 2 welcome page when using the external internet address.

Can any body let me know?

On the server I have one internet connection enabled.

From the Hyper V virtual machine I can access the internet also.

Cheers

Paul.

Activated the measurement feature in the Host to verify resources of a VM.

However when trying to verify the recuros with the Measure command, an error occurs.

Does anyone know what can it be?

Cannot delete VM after catastrophic error

Hi, I had a VM in high availability that I wanted to delete, as usual I removed it from Failover Cluster Manager and then I connected to the single hyper-v server to delete it from hyper-v manager, at that point I got "catastrophic failure" and since that moment the situation is the following, it seems I can't do anything with this VM, only "connect" and "settings". The .vhd file has already been deleted.

Hi.

I have problem with create vmswitch on hyper-V on windows 10.

I have novirtualswitches

When i try create new one using hyper-v manager (i try normalne, and run as administrator), or powershell ( New-VMSwitch -Name "vNIC1" -AllowManagementOS $true -NetAdapterName "Wi-Fi")I getting an error :

New-VMSwitch : Failed while creating virtual Ethernet switch.
Switch create failed, name = '97B3FECD-1405-473A-A1F3-B47EAC2E3C4C', friendly name = 'vNIC355': I

I've triedto reinstall network drivers, reinstal hyper-v role, use wire, and wireless NIC, create external, private or internal vswitch. All times i got this error or sometimes i got :

New-VMSwitch : Failed while creating virtual Ethernet switch.
Switch create failed, name = '1EB12E39-3D11-46C2-97BF-D6B504BE83D1', friendly name = 'vNIC1': Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion. (0x800703FA).

QNAP, Hyper-V, unstable windows

I have problem with extremely unstable WS 2012.

I'm using physical server connected with HP switch with 2 ports set by NIC and configured as swithc independet (LACP didn't work).

my QNAP is also connected with two ports as a trunk to that HP switch, but set as LACP.

I'm connecting phyiscal server with QNAP via iSCI. On physical server I have DC (with DHCP + DNS) and a Hyper-V for virtual machines. On Hyper-V I have 2 debians and 6x WS 2012 DC, after installing WS I did backup. The problem is, that those WS are extremely unstable. They are running into blue screen 1/2 times a week, and the only thing I can do is format them. I can't even import that machine from backup.

Few days ago I couldn't even install WS, it came to 80% and bsod so I had to format over and over.

Funniest thing. Both Linux has 25+ days uptime and they are working perfectly, but I can't deal with MS.

Any ideas why they are behaving like that?

P.S.When MS die, errors says that it couldn't connect with QNAP (where it's xvhd was), But they never die all together. Just randomly. One die, while the other 5 is working fine, and in the next day another die.

P.S.2 Linuxes are working fine, so I think that link between physical server - switch - QNAP might be good, because they have connection with HyperVisor. But Windows Server?

Best regards.

Hyper V, access for domain user

I have big problem with allowing non-admin domain users access to Hyper-V. I have PC's in domain and I don't have access from domain users I have that notification, that it has been restriced by admin. I set them of course in DC as Hyper-V Administrators but nothing changes. If I set them as 'local admins' everything is working but it's not safe in my case, that's why I need to have them as normally users.

On local user Hyper-V VM's are also working, but not in domain.

I guess I read every single hint about it and the only thing I found is that, that's a common problem.

btw. I don't have InitialStore.xml file, so I can't try this thing: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/virtual_pc_guy/archive/2008/01/17/allowing-non-administrators-to-control-hyper-v.aspx?PageIndex=2#comments

any ideas?

Best regards

PowerShell - How to Disable Virtual Machine Network Adapter

Hello,

I'm running a VDI on Hyper-V 2012 and I would like to disable the Virtual machine Network Adapater to do some tasks on the network to change their IPs without login into each VM to renew it's IP.

Any Powershell CLI help..? I've tried Get-VM - Name (VMName) | Disable-NetAdapter but that didn't help.

Appreciate your help on this...

Replicating a non-clustered VM from a clustered server

I have a VM server which is a member of a cluster, and hosts both clustered VMs and non-clustered VMs (on local storage).  I would like to be able to replicate one of the non-clustered VMs to another data center for disaster recovery.  But it appears that if the server is a member of a cluster, that is impossible.  Is there a way?

Windows 2012R2 VM under Hyper-V sudden BSOD ntoskrnl.exe+14e8a0

$

We have a 2012 R2 Server Standard VM running on Hyper-V 2008R2 Host for few months, then we migrated the 2012R2 VM to Hyper-V 2012R2 Host. Since then, the VM crashes twice a day with BSOD and no specific crash message.

The Hyper-V Host is running fine, and other instances (none is 2012) runs fine on it including some Linux based ones. The Hardware is latest Intel Xeon E2600 v3 with 32GB DDR4 RAM.On the old Hyper-V 2008R2 Host, everything was working perfectly fine.

The VM is 2012R2 Standard with 5160MB RAM assigned and 4 Virtual Processors.

What we have tried so far:

- Remove Device Manager devices, and allow windows to reinstall them

- Integration Tools says it is up to date

- Removed NIC and let windows reinstall, reinserted the IPs

- Ran chkdsk C: /R (it didn't do anything)

- Ran rootkit/virus scan, checked nothing suspicious in DriverView (all MSFT drivers loaded)

- Checked the BSOD dumps using Bluescreen View and WindDBG , the results are inconclusive (below):

- Performed memory diagnostic scan on the VM, no issues

- Ran Verifier, there was no drivers loaded other than MSFT drivers. Also checked Sigverif , and found no issues. Also updated mc_updateGenuineIntel.dll with updated Intel micro code update.

- The problem was happening with the disk in VHD format, so we converted it to VHDX but the error persisted. There were no errors while converting and have not seen anything indicating an issue with the VM (nothing missing, nothing corrupted). The VM runs MSSQL 2012 DB.

- All Important, Critical and Optional Updates installed

- The old Host 2008R2 had NTFS partition, the new Host has ReFS partition

- The errors are:

CSV stuck in redirected access...

We are running Windows Datacenter 2008 R2 SP1 in our Failover Cluster, on 3 Hyper-V hosts, using Commvault to backup the vhds.  There was a backup in progress that I killed from the Commvault server and that ended properly.  Now the CSV is stuck in "Online (Backup in progress, Redirected Access)" mode.  I cannot "Turn off redirected access for this CSV" either and I can't "Move this shared volume to another node" as I am told "Backup in progress.  Please wait for backup completion before trying this operation again."  But the backup is no longer running so I am stuck.  I also checked for disk shadows and there are not any.  How can I clear this up with taking any of the VMs running on this CSV offline?  Thanks.

Microsoft VmBus Failed to power on with Error 'The system cannot find the file specified.'

Background, we have a Windows 2008 server (Client doesn't want to upgrade) running Hyper-V with a single application VM. There were some issues with an update over the weekend that caused the Hyper-V network services to fail in some rather interesting ways.

We were able to cleanup all fo the errors using details found online except for the following error which seems to not exist according to Google and Bing.
The error appears when we try to start the virtual server or any newly created VM on the host usually after 30 seconds and the server stops immediately with the error.
Event logs show the same details as what is below with no additional help.

---Error Message----
[Main Instruction]
The application encountered an error while attempting to change the state of 'SERVER'.

[Content]
'SERVER' failed to start.

Microsoft VmBus (Instance ID {D41A1872-3740-41CE-A1EE-4522AB82F991}):  Microsoft VmBus Failed to power on with Error 'The system cannot find the file specified.'

[Expanded Information]
'SERVER' failed to start. (Virtual machine B5EA7291-002F-4C1E-A9EB-BDA3702950CE)

'SERVER' Microsoft VmBus (Instance ID {D41A1872-3740-41CE-A1EE-4522AB82F991}): Failed to power on with Error 'The system cannot find the file specified.' (0x80070002). (Virtual machine B5EA7291-002F-4C1E-A9EB-BDA3702950CE)

----End Error---

Has anyone run into this before that could shed some light on what or now I can get the VMBus working again?

Thanks in Advance.
