my host server are Windows server 2012 R2 Standard, i have install a Windows server 2012 standard in the hyper-v manager, but it cannot be activate by AVMA, how can i activate it or should i need to buy another windows server 2012 standard license for it??
How to recover from a corrupted VHD file?
There is a tool that can recover logical problems in the VHD structure?
A friend called me and told me that his VS R2 Enterprise with 4 VMs suffered a power falure and after that, one of the VMs does not startup anymore. The erros is the same as using VHDMOUNT, something similar: "VHD file could not be mounted"
There is a CHKDSK for VHD files?
How to "rebuild" a corrupetd VHD file? How to analyze logical structure of a offline VHD file?
Finish failover Hyper V guest (SVR 2012 R2) from on-premises to Azure
All
We replicated an on-premise Windows 2012 R2 Hyper V guest with 3 x 4TB drives more than a year ago. We only had to do the one and it worked perfectly. The on-premise machine we replicated from was switched off more than a year ago.
We have reduced the storage on this server and have removed one of the 4TB drives from it. We now want to delete that drive from Azure and leave the VM intact.
I can’t delete it until the replication is finalised though. In the attached image we have 2 options (commit) and (complete migration).
Both seem like likely options and I am leaning towards ‘commit’. Has anyone more experience with this who can assist please?
Thanks, Dave
One of my Vritual Machine has multiple VHDX files.

how to delete saved VM state the scripted way
Hi there,
I exported five Hyper-V VMs for importing them onto other servers. I was trying to import them with a script, but none of them successfully imported, cause they were in saved state - and the new servers are having other processor features. So I have to delete the saved state.
It's no problem to do so in the Hyper-V GUI, if you do an import, you are getting an incompatibility report with a command box to delete the saved state - then click OK and the VM is imported.
Unfortunately I couldn't find a way to do that in a powershell script. I found the cmdlet "remove-vmsavedstate", but that cmdlet want's a VM, that already exists in Hyper-V management.
I found the "compare-vm", which is showing me, that the VM I'm trying to import has incompatibilities.
But I found no way to resolve these incompatibilities ( delete saved state ) the scripted way with a VM that is only existing as export on disk.
Any ideas?
Yours Franz-Georg

create Hyper V on surface pro 7
On surface pro 7 I need HyperV to run a win10 32 bits on the basic win 10 64 bits pro
I uploaded an official win 10 32 bits
I created an Hyper V using this .iso
I started the machine as requested.
It stops on:
"start PXE over IPV4
VM boot summary
1. SCSI DVD did not load an OS
2. SCSI disk idem
*3. Network adapter (00155D00AA03)
No operating system was loaded.
Your VM may be configured incorrectly"
The VM does not see the .iso or the .iso has not the right format.
Would you know what should be changed?
Thanks a lot

Reinitialize Virtual Hard Disk
I have a virtual hard disk (VHD) stored on an external USB drive. The external drive does not have a letter assigned; this is to protect its contents from viral attack. In Hyper-V Manager, I added the VHD to a VM by using the DeviceID of the external drive. The virtual hard disk successfully appears in disk management of the VM. However, at some point the VHD becomes detached (perhaps due to a backup running on the Hyper-V host) and does not reattach unless I re-add it in the Hyper-V GUI or restart the VM.
Is there a Powershell method to reinitialize the detached VHD? I have tried using "Add-VMHardDiskDrive" but it will not accept the DeviceID in the Path argument. A Powershell command which reattaches the VHD seems better than restarting the VM every time the backups run.
Hyper-V Old VM folders cannot be deleted
In the process of upgrading VMs through the different version of Hyper-V, including some failures related to dumping a snapshot and the guest just dissappearing from the console- I now have some orphaned VM guest folders and snapshot xml files that I cannot delete.
No Antivirus on the system active, reboot- and still the files are locked and reported as in use.
I have tried taking ownership- rewriting the NTFS permissions- even though they looked fine- but still some folders and files just ca't be removed.
Has anyone else had this issue or something similar? I do know for sure that none of the files in the folders are in use by existing virtual machines and when I pull up resource manager and share and storage manager there are no open files or sessions that point to these folders and files that just wont go away.
any help would be great.
Thanks,
Omar

I have created this network through virtual switch- type internal - connection type internal and it was working fine. But after I restarted my PC it doesn't work.
Failover Cluster Shared Volume Failing IO Error - Help!
So, needed to reboot a cluster yesterday and drained roles from one server, rebooted, moved roles over and rebooted other. However, now one of the CSV is showing as failed. It is not ReadOnly, I have tried in the Server Manager to attach the disk and get an Access Denied error, tried via powershell as admin and get the same error. any advise? Tried to change the IsManualAttached as well get access denied for that too.

Hyper-V storage replication
Hello,
I have a inquiry, about replicating hyper-v storage and connect to replicated storage if the primary fails.
Scenario is the following:
I have a hyper-v cluster that consists of 2 HV Hosts. On the storage part, an iSCSI on a NAS that is connected to the cluster through 2 file servers.
I have another identical NAS with identical iSCSI that I need to replicate VMs to.
How can I replicate the VMs?
How can I connect my Hyper-V cluster to the second NAS (iSCSI) if the first one fails.
Thank you.

What happened to VT-d VT-x on my machine once Hyper-V has been disabled?
Without wishing to bore most of you to sleep, let me cut to the chase that for years I've been on 64bit os development on Windows 10 platform, using VBox & Qemu emulator, it's been fine till I was silly and tempted enough to try out Hyper-V without a shred of previous knowledge. As it turned out our proprietary 64bit os does not work due to the fact that Hyper-V only recognizes some commercial guest OSes, I accepted the mistake in my decision to try out Hyper-V and paid dearly for that, but what irks me the most is Windows 10 seems to hold 'ransom' on the use of VT-d VT-x of my PC in a manner that has rendered the use of VirtualBox useless!
For 2 days multitude of articles were read from different windows-related forums but all are to no avail in as far as salvaging the freedom we once had for years.
Please; someone out there, some windows gurus in this forum help us out in getting our VirtualBox in working order as its functionality has been paralyzed by the disappearing VT-d VT-x (of course both available & supported on our PC but blocked courtesy of windows 10).
Thank you for your attention in advance.
