I just built a brand new Hyper-V lab from desktop class hardware and am experiencing STOP errors whenever I attempt to build a new VM. The host is fine and is not experiencing any STOP errors or driver issues; however, I am getting some intermittant
drive failures in the RAID array which I am resolving independently. In this configuration I have 4 drives in a RAID 5 array and a single dedicated drive for backups and snaphots. Until today, I was only successful building VM's hosted on the dedicated
drive which led me to believe it was indicative of the RAID issues; however as of this morning I'm now getting the same error when building VM's on the dedidated drive. I will post the specifications at the end of the email - here is the error and sequence
of activities:
- Create new VM
- Configure to boot from ISO (also on dedicated drive, also tried capturing DVD with same results)
- Start the VM, files begin loading, I think it gets just prior to the GUI portion of the Server 2008 R2 x64 installation
- STOP error
