Hi all,
We are planning to create a hyper-v cluster on two identical Dell PowerEdge R740 Server with 256 GB of memory.
My questions is what's the best practice to create the cluster ?
Regarding
-Networks
-Quorum Disk size
- Performance of Server Memory - CPU
and if there any thing else should i take care about
Thanks in advance

Hello all,
What exactly does it mean to build an SBC environment using RDVH and RDSH in a Windows Server Hyper-V environment? Is this possible? Isn't it possible that the implications of VDI and SBC are indistinguishable?
Assuming that you have created a collection of Unmanaged Pool-style VMs that have installed the programs that users need on Windows Server 2016 servers and are used by domain users, is this an SBC? VDI?
Hopefully, many of you would leave your thinking, opinion or idea.
Hello,
I have a server 2012 machine set up with Hyper-V installed.
My company has one AD DS forest that contains 2 domains. All servers run Windows Server 2K12 R2. My company uses ISCSI and Fibre channel storage. I plan to deploy single Hyper-v cluster that will use Cluster shared volumes (CSV). The cluster must include VM's from both domains. What should I do?
Join each hyper-v host server to the same AD DS domain or
Deploy clustered storage spaces or
Deploy serially attached SCSI (SAS) or
Join each hyper-v host server to different AD DS domains. |
I have a test server (Dell Poweredge R710) running Hyper-V Server 2016. Is it possible to run nested Hyper-V on this (i.e. Hyper-V running within a VM on the server)? The CPUs are 2 x Xeon E5506 @ 2.13GHz.
When I try, I get a message saying 'the processor does not have the required virtualisation capabilities' but I am unsure whether this is an actual hardware limitation (which it might be, given that this is a fairly old server), or just requires a settings change in the firmware.
Thanks
David
SIP traffic is mirrored in a switch and sent to both a PBX and a standalone server, which hosts our call recording software. The standalone server is old and we intend to replace it with a Server 2016 virtual machine (Hyper-V).
When the Ethernet cable (mirrored SIP traffic) is moved from the existing server to the VM, SIP traffic is dropped / not found (WireShark) - return the cable to the existing server and the SIP traffic is present. If the same cable is connected to a laptop the SIP traffic is visible in WireShark.
Both Antivirus and Firewall have been disabled on the VM. The virtual network switch is configured as External and allows network/internet connectivity i.e. ping google.com and browse websites etc.
Any help would be appreciated, thank you
Philip
I applied a newer snapshot in the snapshot tree for one of our Win2008 vms. After applying the snapshot, I now get this error upon trying to login into the VM console:
"The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed."
Note, the machine was already in the domain in the old and new snapshots so not sure why it has AD problems after applying the snapshot. Please advise.
Hello,
I've done replications between servers all the time - sometimes they aren't on the same subnet but never between two domains - first time - not sure if there is something different I need to do.
I have two servers each host running 2016 (and all guest VMs are 2016). I have set up a trust between the two and conditional forwarders. I can ping each server by name.
I have the hyperV settings set for kerberos. I've disabled all firewalls on both servers - there areNO firewall policies, rules, or anything else between the two domains. All firewalls are disabled.
When I set up a replication from one host to other using kerberos, I get these two messages
event 3200 Hyper-V failed to enable replication for virtual machine 'Test': A connection with the server could not be established (0x00002EFD). (Virtual machine ID 71EFDF26-BD0D-4C85-81FB-6C6918AA036E)
THis is the setting on the server I'm replicating from -
These are settings on the server I'm replicating to -
event 29230 Hyper-V cannot connect to the specified Replica server 'HOST1'. Error: A connection with the server could not be established (0x00002EFD). Verify that the specified server is enabled as a Replica server, allows inbound connection on port '443', and supports the same authentication scheme.

how we can step by step make hyper v replication between tow hyper 2012 R2 servers on different domain controller?
i facing this issue with an production machine.
Checkpoints (AVHDX) files created randomly and the cause unknown and led to disk space issue
please advise.
Also merging checkpoints failed automatically and for fix it we must power-off machine but it raised again after days
Hello,
I'm trying to create a new VM associated to an external network adapter on Hyper-V RC0. At the end of creation, the VM tries to start but two messages appear on the host machine and the VM disappears (sorry, I use the french version of Windows Server 2008 RTM) :

I don't understand the problem ?!
Hello,
This is my first post. Welcome everyone.
I am looking for solution to be able to reach my Hyper-V server VM from external network/internet. In details:
- Hyper-V server - 192.168.1.3
- I want to reach virtual machines from internet, from public IP, and I want to be able to work with them from outside of my home
I guess that I should configure ports forwarding on my home router. Then connect to Hyper-V server using Hyper-V Manager and my public IP address at home. But how to do that? Which ports should be forwarded?
Thanks,

HI Team, I have a software package called U8 that uses a USB device as a license key. Using a 2019 Server Standard Host and a 2016 Windows Standard as the VM, can the VM access the USB device on the physical machine...?
Thanks in advance for advice.
Tom Karpowski...
today suddenly when i start hyper-v guest vm it loading ok no boot error. but Alt+Ctrl_Del screen not show. only show the black screen, move is moving in the vm screen, i also click the vm tool bar and press Alt+Ctrl+Del but no effect. i turn off vm, and one by one select safe mode and try all option but no effect.
I Tried to get the the image from the back but the same problem.
I tried to attached the image with a new VM but the same problem
please help to resolve this issue.

Hi
We are planning to create Hyper-v cluster on brand new dell servers, the physical server comes with 4 port network adapters, 2 ports comes with a gigabit network and the other 2 ports comes with 10 G but Unfortunately the 10 g adapter is not function
so my question is can i achieve the cluster with only two network adpater 1g, because i read some articles that shows that i've to create 4 network adapter for each service (Management-ISCSI-Cluster-Live Migration).
I think about creating NIC teaming on both gigabit adapters then creates a four virtual switches for above networks, does this configuration correct if not please help me to do the best practice solution.
Thanks
