Hi all.
I have 2 node Windows Sever 2008 R2 cluster. Hosts are connected by FC adaptors to netapp SAN. I need to migrate all VM's to Windows Server 2012 Cluster. I do not have other hardware therefore I'm planning to use one of the cluster member to build first
2012. Here is my plan, I would be appreciated if you could confirm or add your suggestions.
-Live or Quick migrate all VM resources to 2008R2 HyperV2 Server from HyperV1 Server.
- Remove HyperV1 from cluster, remove CSVs (not sure how to do that exactly)
- Install Windows Server 2012 R2 and cluster to the HyperV1 server.
- Configure same networks.
- Take a maintenance window for VMs. Shut down all on legacy cluster.
- Remove LUNs from legacy and add them to new cluster with same settings (not sure if that step true. Is that easy like that, my storage guys will remove from 2008 and add them to 2012 and da dam! I will see all my VMs?)
- If I see all my VM's on my new server then will import them using Hyper-V Manager. This will reduce import time as well i guess.
Any action with CSVs?
Are these steps seem ok? I know i can use cluster migration as well but my storage knowledge is so less and storage guys know hothing about CSV or Hyper-V. So i'm trying to find easiest path?
I would be appricated if somebody correct me or add more detailed steps.
Thanks in advance.
