Intel x5450 CPU has VT-x but not EPT (SLAT), will it run server 2012 hyper-v??

Hi all,

I have a fully virtualized platform already running on Xenserver 6.1. I have recently upgraded it and Im wanting to run server 2012 and windows 8 VM's. These are only "experimental" guests and not fully supported at the minute on xenserver 6.1 (I can't wait for them to get their arses in gear!!)

I plan to export the VM's as .ovf's and import back into hyper-v. The hardware is a single box PowerEdge 1950 iii with a couple of X5450 CPU's. These are VT-x capable but NOT VT-x with EPT (SLAT).

Firstly will it work, I think so...? If it will, what performance will I loose through not having EPT cpu's? I'm sure this has been asked to death but thoughts please, thanks in advance.

J
