Hi folks,
I'm doing a lot of reading about using SET teaming within 2016, and I am trying to play with it and get my head around how it works.
lets say I have 4 x 1GB interfaces, installed in each node of my cluster. To keep it simple lets say I have 2 hosts, and I want to use this lovely new converged networking. My virtual machines generally run over 2 different VLANs (e.g. 100 and 200), and
different VLANS for management, live migration and so on.
So to start with - regarding the networking on the VMs:
My understanding is that I would create my team switch first (syntax might be off slightly)
New-vswitch -name "VM_Network" -netapaptername - "NIC1", NIC2", "NIC3", "NIC4" -enableembeddedteaming $true
Get-vm "VM101" | get-vmnetworkadapter | connect-vmnetworkadapter -switchname "VM_Network"
Get-vm "VM201" | get-vmnetworkadapter | connect-vmnetworkadapter -switchname "VM_Network"
Then I need to set the VLAN on the adapter per-vm
Set-VMNetworkAdapterVlan –VMName "VM101" –Access –VlanId 100
Set-VMNetworkAdapterVlan –VMName "VM201" –Access –VlanId 200
Am i on the correct lines?
Thanks for any pointers!
Dave
