As I’m sure you’re familiar, in 2008 and 2012, when you create a vswitch and share it with the host, a synthetic adapter is created on this host. Regardless of the speed of the physical NIC (1/10gb), the synthetic nic on the host is 10gb. However, in 2016, when creating an external vswitch on a 1gb nic, the synthetic adapter created is shown as 1gb now. I tried this on a W10 laptop with a wireless card and the synthetic adapter now shows 866mbps matching the WLAN speed.
Has 2016/w10 changed the way synthetic adapter speed is presented? And if so, is there documentation for this change?
