Hyper-V replica on the other range

Hello people

I need help with a problem with Hyper-V replica.

I am using the Hyper-V Replica, have domain on the network (192.168.5 / 24)
my 2 Hosts Hyper-V are on the field.

I did another network (192.168.0.5/24) and connected the two hosts through separate network cards for this network (192.168.0.0/24) because I want the replication of VMs is through this range (192.168.0./ 24)

I enabled LiveMigration for replication, as image, however this network configured in this LiveMigration not passing any data, ie, replication remains the network where is the domain (192.168.0./24)

I need to replicate VMs through another IP range as explained above, but I'm not getting it.

I need help with this

Please someone help me

Thank you

hyper-v issue: Mouse pointer invisible in Linux Mint 17 (run in hyper-v of windows 10)

Hi everyone:

my problem is, after I installed the Linux mint 17 in windows 10 hyper-v, the mouse was invisible in the guest OS (Linux Mint 17). While the mouse really works, I can click the buttons in the guest OS, it's just invisible. anyone know what happened? I've tried to download the Hyper-v Linux integration services and tried to install it in Linux Mint and failed to do it. The setting of hyper-v shows that all the "integration services" are offered except the "guest services".

when we have two virtual machines which are connected  to a hyper-v host, what do we see in the cam table of our cisco switfh inside network? The mac address of vm or host ?

Hyper-V 2012 R2 excessive logging event 4611 CsvFilter

Hi all,

I have an environment with a Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 server running VDI's. The Hyper-V server is attached to shared storage to place the VDI's on. Although it is a single Hyper-V host, a failover cluster is build with clustered shared volumes configured to get the shared storage aailable for Hyper-V, with the option to add another host. So far so good...

What we are experiencing is excessive logging (approximately 25000 events in 24 hours), of the following:

Log Name:      Security
Source:        Microsoft-Windows-Security-Auditing
Date:          2/15/2016 9:09:50 AM
Event ID:      4611
Task Category: Security System Extension
Level:         Information
Keywords:      Audit Success
User:          N/A
Computer:      SERVERNAME.domainname
Description:
A trusted logon process has been registered with the Local Security Authority.
This logon process will be trusted to submit logon requests.

Subject:
 Security ID:  SYSTEM
 Account Name:  SERVERNAME$
 Account Domain:  domainname
 Logon ID:  0x3E7

Logon Process Name:  CsvFilter

Although this is a normal event log beeing a succes audit of a proces that logged on succesfully. I don't think it is normal that it does that 25000 time a day.

The event is described here:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn311491.aspx

But I cannot find anything saying it logs that much events and also not in combination with the CsvFilter, which is the logon process name in the event.

- Has anyone even seen this before?
- What is causing this?
- Is there maybe a solution for it?

With kind regards,

Rik Pasman

Thanks in advance

Hyper-V encountered an error during the import operation (Hyper-V 2012 R2)

I'm trying to import Hyper-V 2008 (without R2) VM to Hyper-V 2012 R2 host.

This error occured:

"Hyper-V encountered an error during the import operation.

'VM' failed to realize.

Failed to upgrade the VM version of the virtual machine 'VM'.

The VM version is not supported"

Hyper-V Guest VM's disappeared after orderly reboot (Not Virus Scanning Issue)

I wanted to perform some long overdue maintenance on a hyper-v host.  My setup is two Win2008 R2 Core Hyper-V machines with local disk storage (no san, no virus protection on the hosts).  I powered down the Guest OS's,  exported them from  Virtual1 and copied the to Virtual2.   The guest OS came up and worked no problem on Virtual2.   Later on in the day I powered down Virtual2.  When virtual2 came back up 2 of the 3 guest VM's have disappeared from the management console.

Some items of note...

  • There is no virus protection running on the hosts (others seem to have been having an issue with virus scanning).
  • Event logs show the orderly shutdown of the guest VM's,  event logs then show only 1 of the machines turning back on.
  • I see no useful errors in the event logs related to starting the machines back up
  • There is a single event log entry for "Hyper-v failed creating a new partition (status 11)".  Although, there is plenty of free RAM & Disk space

Anyone have any idea what's going on?  I'm kind of baffled as where to even begin looking.

Thanks for any help,

-eric

NIC unable to connect to network

Hello All,

I have the following environment: Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter

Hyper-V Host >>4 NIC Ports

NIC 1 & Nic 2 = Team A=Hyper V Node

NIC 3 & Nic 4 = IP not asigned

Team A is working perfectly

When I try to assign IP to the NIC 3 & NIC 4, they are not connecting to the network.

If i add these NIC Ports to the Guest VM and then assign any IP inside the VM, even then NIC Ports are not connecting to NW.

Can anybody give suggestions to fix this.

Thanks & Regards

ODX on Dell MD 3XXX Storage will corrupt the VHDX

$

I have found that the latest version of the Dell MD Storage has ODX on by default. When using the storage migration with this turned on the VHDX files transfer instantly between the LUN's but the VHDX is corrupt and causes the Virtual Server to blue screen and then to never boot again.  I have yet to find a way to recover any data.

My current work around is to disable ODX on the array itself which means that the data is transferred by the hosts, but does not corrupt the VHDX files.

show storageArray odxsetting;

set storageArray odxEnabled=false;

Failover Cluster error messages (a total joke)

Did change physical SSDs in RAID VD in 2012 R2 Datacentre running Hyper-V

Image up/down, bcd never likes such changes, so quick bcdboot to re-create it, server up & running fine, Failover Cluster Manager suddenly can not live migrate VM from other cluster host.

Throws errors about CPU being not compatible (strange, did not change CPU, did not touch BIOS)

Poke around, cold move VM to the other host, try to start & this time error that Resources can not be brought online

What resource? Cluster storage is accessible, networks as well. Forget FCM, lets use Hyper-V Manager.

Oh well, that one gives at least correct error -"hypervisor is not running"

Of course, bcdboot does not have any logic to check that hypervisor was installed on this host, so did not auto start it in bcd

bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype Auto

reboot and all is back to normal.

But I am losing more & more faith in MS Hyper-V related tools. How come FCM could not produce correct meaningful error message that would relate to the actual issue?

Hello Friends

I have been moving from Vmware to hyper V and I can see most of the things are going very well from promoting of dc's but also converting some files servers. But there are some machine after converting them to hyper v either through power shells commands or converter they are not booting just starting and blinking like reading from the disk but ending there forever.

Any advise is really appreciated

VHDX out of disk space error - space inconsistency on iSCSI unit

$

Hello.

I've set up a NAS as an iSCSI storage unit (one LUN) and made it a CSV - it's 14.5 TB.
On the storage I've created a dynamic VHDX file at around 14.3 TB.
I've then attached the VHDX file to a VM that runs my backup software (Veeam).

When no data was on the disk the space available in Windows on the VM was almost the same as the available space on the iSCSI unit / CSV.

Recently I've been having problems with my VM pausing due to low disk space.

In Windows the drive has 8,41 TB free space of the 14,3 TB available.
In the Failover Cluster Manager the drive has 122 MB free space of the 14,3 TB available.
If I inspect the disk via the Failover Cluster Manager it says the current file size is 14,28 TB and the maximum disk size is 14,4 TB.
In explorer one of the Hyper-V hosts I can see the VHDX file is 14.2 TB.

It appears there's an inconsistency as to how much data and free space is available.
I expect it might be the VHDX file has actually been used to it's fullest potential and then the backup software has removed content according to it's retention policy leaving "space" inside the VHDX structure. Now when backing up the software writes to the disk but the OS thinks the disk is full and puts the VM on pause mode to prevent crash. If this is correct how do I prevent this from happening? I guess it's possible to use fixed size VHDX instead but are there any other options?

Hi Guys,

Im tring to move a VM but i get the above error.

In testing if i move the VM to the same local server on the same disk array it works.

When i come to move it across the network to a 2nd HV server it errors?

Any ideas?

Both servers are 2012R2 on the domain using kerberos and compression in the performance options.

Thanks James

Slow disk-to-disk copy rates on all VM's in a Hyper-V 2008 failover cluster

$

Hi,

I am getting very slow disk-to-disk copy times within my VM's.  This is just within the VM.  I can copy from a Hyper-V node to the shared storage, and copy times are ~300MB/sec.  For example, from the fixed D: drive on a VM to a fixed E: drive on the same VM, copy rates are ~12MB/sec.  Shared storage is an Equallogic SAN of 3xPS6100's.  Each node is configured with 2ea NIC's in the storage fabric (HIT kit installed), 1 management interface, and 1 network interface.  I have been here a year, but don't recall such slow copy times until I started troubleshooting SQL performance issues.

Any insight is appreciated.  Thanks.
