Visual Studio Emulators for Android doesn't work on Windows 10

Hi,

When I try to start emulator the start task fails, with message like below.

10.08.2015 14:06:01: [Critical] Unable to add user to the Hyper-V Administrators group. Exit code 2220.

I was using it on Windows 8.1 where it worked well on the same PC. This proves that my PC meets all requirements and it is properly configured. After clean install of Windows 10 emulator doesn't work.

Hyper-V on my PC is running well. I can create and run 32 and 64 bit vm's. There is problem with creating android vm's by vs emulator. There is no group "Hyper-V Administrators" and it can't be created.

Tried these solutions:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/virtual_pc_guy/archive/2010/09/28/creating-a-hyper-v-administrators-local-group-through-powershell.aspx

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/virtual_pc_guy/archive/2008/01/17/allowing-non-administrators-to-control-hyper-v.aspx

also i tried to recreate InitialStore.xml for Hyper-V with needed group and operations but without success. It seems that hyper-v bundled with windows 10 doesn't require any special group to run, create, manage and remove vm's, switches, etc. Emulator thinks different and it can't assign me to group which does not exists.

We couldn't verify the product key. Please check your installation media. (Hyper-V Virtual Machine)

Hi there,

I have been banging my head on an issue for the last couple of hours hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I have a Windows Server Standard 2012 R2 Media that we purchased from an online vendor. The software came with a single product key and as I understand Windows Server 2012 Standard R2 includes 2 Virtual Machine installations. When I installed the media on the physical server I was able to activate Windows without any problems at all. I installed the Hyper-V role on the same host server and when I tried to perform a virtualized installation of Windows Server 2012 Standard r2 on the machine I received the error "We couldn't verify the product key. Please check your installation media."

I do not have any other keys other than what came with the package. As I understand I should be able to use the same Product Key included within the Virtual Machines if they are the same OS. If any one can provide any tips or experience, I appreciate the assistance greatly.

Trying to almost isolate a group of systems.

I am trying to isolate a handful of systems to only accessed with RDP that runs on a specific citrix server.

The goal is for user to log into citrix dbl-click on RDP icon and connect to older XP system do their work and print out to specific network printer. WIN2012r2 had 4 NIC's two for administration and backup and two that are teamed up and dedicated to the isolated systems. The pair of teamed dedicated NICs are connected to a switch are behind some ACL rules that only allow RDP port traffic and printer traffic.

Am I just overthinking this? There a easier/better way to achieve same results?

Virtual Sound Card - Server 2008 R2 w/ Hyper-V

I have checked some of the previous posts about this and I am still getting some mixed results. I have remote users connecting back to the company through RDP. The RDP server is Win2K8R2_SP1. This is a VM running on a Hyper-V R2 host. The physical server does not have a sound card but after a VoIP rollout I have several users using softphones. The softphones connect via the standard desktop (which has a sound card) but these users will remote in to run several apps that are not VPN or WAN friendly. Right now if these users get a voicemail they receive a copy as a .wav file in their email (Outlook in the RDP session), so the only way to hear these messages is to send the .wav file to an outside mail account (gmail/hotmail/yahoo) or to have a second Outlook session running on the regular desktop (typically using OWA).

I am looking for a virutal sound card that will work on a Server 2008 R2 virtual machine where the host server is running Hyper-V R2

Thanks,

hi all

I have a desktop machine(core i5  3GHz 32GB RAM) running Windows server 2012 R2. Hard drive partition and current sizes (c: 19.6 of 162 gb  e: 11.1 of 931 gb  f: 62.5 of 302gb). Only one VM is currently running and the other four are stopped. When I attempt to start another VM, it seems to be starting up normally but then it eventually  shows a black screen and hangs. On event viewer it is issuing the following fatal error

'HyperV001' has encountered a fatal error.

The guest operating system reported that it failed

with the following error codes: ErrorCode0: 0xED, ErrorCode1: 0x68B1C90,

 ErrorCode2: 0xC0000185, ErrorCode3: 0x0, ErrorCode4: 0x0.

If the problem persists, contact Product Support for the guest operating system.

Hi.

We moved our Exchange 2013 Virtual machine( which has server 2012 Datacenter OS) to new Hyper-V Host server(Server 2012 R2 Datacenter) We tried to upgrade integration services from 6.2.9200.16384 to 6.3.9600.16384 on our Exchange server so that Veeam can do backup. but after upgrading Integration services, server cant boot fully.

I am not sure what is causing the issue. because all other VM's which also got moved to new Hyper-V host are working after Integration services upgrade.

Expanding VM Hard Disks

Hi Techs,

Reading on the link http://www.altaro.com/hyper-v/how-to-resize-online-virtual-machine-hard-disks-in-hyper-v-2012-r2/ it explains how to resize VM hard disks whilst online (SCSI Controlled only)

I have a VM with an IDE controller and I would want to resize it online, my question is, it possible to switch the VHD controller from IDE to SCIS and if so how?

Another question is which best controller must one use on VMs, IDE or SCSI?

Thanks

disaster recovery license

hello

question related to "Hyper-V server 2012 R2"

I've a production environment with 4 (four!!!) Windows Server 2012 R2 DATACENTER EDITION ...and you know what I mean...

Now I'm working on old hardware with the goal to create a disaster recovery, using replica of production virtual machine

the question is: am I supposed to buy other windows server licence or is enough Hyper-v server, considering that the VM are licensed under production environment?

thank you in advance

VMMS causing all sorts of issues with backups and moving VMs

I have several problems, and they all seem to be related to VMMS.

1) I cannot get a good backup with Backup Exec 2014 on two different machines unless VMMS is recycled. Even then, sometime the backup will fail. One backup is 10 hours and one is 3 hours. The 10 hours one usually fails on the Exchagne 2010 server - it is 1.2TB across 4 VHDXs.

2) I tried to move a VM from one host to another and it would fail. Had to restart VMMS on the destination server before the VM would move

Some things I have done:

1) Fresh install on Windows 2012 R2 on a server, updated, joined to domain, left in default 'Computers' OU.

2) Converted all VHDs to VHDX

3) Re-created all VMs - only reused the VHDX files

4) Converted VHD/VHDX from dynamic to fixed size

All servers are 2012 R2, domain connected, and Hyper-V is the only role. All guest services are up to date. There are no login restrictions.

Some of the errors:

Failed to fix-up absolute VHD paths in configuration of virtual machine 'VMNAME': Account restrictions are preventing this user from signing in. For example: blank passwords aren't allowed, sign-in times are limited, or a policy restriction has been enforced. (0x8007052F). (Virtual machine ID D547F8AF-109D-4A06-A312-3B25940BB921)

At the same time in the Application log:
A VSS writer has rejected an event with error 0x800423f3, The writer experienced a transient error.  If the backup process is retried, the error may not reoccur.
. Changes that the writer made to the writer components while handling the event will not be available to the requester. Check the event log for related events from the application hosting the VSS writer.

Operation:
   PrepareForSnapshot Event

Context:
   Execution Context: Writer
   Writer Class Id: {66841cd4-6ded-4f4b-8f17-fd23f8ddc3de}
Writer Name: Microsoft Hyper-V VSS Writer

   Command Line: C:\Windows\system32\vmms.exe
   Process ID: 6624

Nothing of interest in the System log.

If I restart the VMMS service, it will work. This happened at 8:02pm and there are no account login restrictions.

I had moved a VM last night and this morning went to add another VHDX to the machine, it failed with this error:

'FS01' failed to add device 'Virtual Hard Disk'. (Virtual machine ID 182CEB70-7F75-4C14-AF1D-C300488B19FA)

Restarted VMMS and it worked as expected. VMMS is running as Local System account. Is there a benefit to running it as a different account?

Fuzzy (blurry) desktop in remote session

First, sorry for the large picture.  Second, I know I'm logged in as an administrator, but I'm trying to hunt down a problem.

What you see below is a remote session to a Windows 2012 r2 VM running on Hypver-v Windows 2012 r2, from Windows 10 Pro (1511).  And for the life of me, I can't figure out why the session is always blurry.  This happens on all my VM's.

I've tried throwing in an nVidia card and enabling RemoteFX (adding RemoteFX to Windows 8.1 VM's) and still get the same result.

Anyone got any ideas?  I'm at my wits end.

Connect Hyper-V Manager to Hyper-V Server free

Hello!

I want to connect from a Win 10 client via Hyper-V Manager to a Hyper-V free Server and i have some problems to get a connection.
The client is in a domain and the Server not.
If i try to connect to the Server i get the error message, that i have to check the management service, configuration or the Firewall settings.

The Firewall is disabled, the service running and in the configuration the remote management is active.

Where is my mistake?

Thank you in advance!

NIC configuration for virtualized firewall/router appliance?

$

I want to run a pfSense VM that will function as my router & firewall for everything else, including the host machine (which should participate behind the firewall).  Host OS is 2012R2 Datacenter.  I have two NICs, one connected to a cable modem, and the other connected to a managed switch.  Both NICs will need to be bound to their own virtual switches, since one will be the WAN port and the other will be the LAN port, leaving zero dedicated NICs for the host machine.

1. Is this even possible?

2. If so, how can I get the host machine to participate in the LAN, behind the VM's firewall, with internet access?  My attempts so far have been dismal.

3. Because of the special function of the VM, how should I deal with the "Advanced Features" of the vNICs (i.e., MAC addressing, DHCP guard, router guard)?  I strongly suspect that they will be relevant here.

Here is what I have tried:

1. NIC1 is bound to external vSwitch1 without host OS sharing.  vSwitch1 is used by VM as the WAN connection.

2. NIC2 is bound to external vSwitch2 with host OS sharing.  vSwitch2 is used by the VM as the LAN connection.  In theory, by allowing host OS to use this virtual adapter, it should be able to participate in the LAN.  But I get a ridiculous number of problems that seem to resolve and reappear randomly.  All firewalls have been disabled for troubleshooting purposes.  When I runipconfig /all I see some very random IPV4 addresses that aren't anywhere in the range I have told the LAN DHCP to use.  I also get some MAC address spoofing messages in the system log even though during the setup I did not check any boxes to enable spoofing.

Hoping anyone can help!!

Hyper-V VMMS stopping

I am having a wierd issue that has been creeping up ever since i upgraded this VM Host to Server 2012 R2.   the VMMS seems to crash with no real errors or warnings.  the only warning i get is sometime during the night.  the VMMS stops with the following message.

"Virtual Machine Management service is shutting down while some virtual machines begin running. All running virtual machines will remain running with no management access".

I have seen this for Server 2008 R2 but not for Server 2012 R2.  the issues was fixed in a hotfix release for 2008 but i cannot find any reference to it online for 2012 R2.

looking for any type of suggestion.

thanks,

Dan

Time Synchronization Issues

Hello,

I have 6 server 2012 R2 Hyper-V virtual machine DCs and 1 Physical DC. All of my virtual machine DCs are getting their time from outside except for the Physical. My physical DC is getting its time from a virtual  machine DC. I noticed a lot of the times are different on the virtual machines which is causing issues with my DHCP failover server . I have checked under management of the virtual machine DC time synchronization. Does this mean my DC is synchronizing with the host?

What is best practice should the time synchronization be checked or unchecked?

Import and Export of VMs from remote file server won't work for Windows Server 2012

$

I have three different Windows Server 2012-based Hyper-V networks currently running. I ran these environments originally on 2008 R2 Hyper-V. I only recently built Windows 8 managmenet workstations to to remote management of these domains. In each of the domains, there is a file server that contains shares to export and import VMs form the Hyper-V hosts. I just noticed that I cannot import or export VMs from the file shares when I remotely administer the Hyper-V hosts.

In the import wizard I can browse through the share and select the VM folder, but when I hit Next in the wizard I get "The folder (the remote file server path) could not be found. You might not have permission to access it."

The export wizard gives more or less the same error, but with an added possibility: with no changes happening on the network during my tests, the export will sometimes run with no error and export to the remote file server, but later on when I test it again it will resume giving access denied errors.

To make remote administration work in in these scenarios the usual fix is to to a constrained delegation on the hyper-v host of the cifs service to the remote file server. I did this on the old 2008 R2 Hyper-V hosts and didn't have any notable issues. I have made the same delegation for the Server 2012 Hyper-V hosts but I do not get the expected good result.

What's strange is that nonoe of the three Server 2012-based networks I am running will do the delegation correctly. I haven't seen any web pages recommending any other settings to make this work. Is there some extra step to make Hyper-V 3.0 do the delegation successfully?
