I have cluster lab includes 3 node, 3 network (network 1 for management + virtual machine; network 2 for cluster; network 3 for Migration). When I make a network, example network 1, I must make 3 virtual switchs have the same name and IP (or different IP) in 3 nodes? or I only need one virtual switch in coordinate node and configure IP (with GW to the virtual switch) on 2 other node. I don't clear in this. Please help me!

We do not have any System Center products.
When we reboot Hyper-V hosts for Windows Updates, the guests move to other hosts. When the old host is back up, we have to find where the hosts went and then manually move them back.
These updates are done during scheduled down time, so it would be fine if they went offline at that time and we really don't need the guests to move back and forth during scheduled outages. It would be easier if they just paused and resumed as the host shutdown and restarted, remained where they are and only moved to new hosts if there was an unexpected/unplanned shutdown of the host.
Is there a better way to do this or to automate moving them back to the original hosts when those hosts finish rebooting?
Intel said that their RST drivers do not cache Hyper-V VHD/VHDx files.
What should I use so I can cache the files besides moving to SSD? I have two 6TB drives in RAID1. I'd like to know of any better options besides going to RAID10.

1. DataCenter host 80 VMs, personal and pooled.
2. Cluster with 2 Hyper-V hosts with RDS.
At the datacenter, when I connect to VM, I can watch youtube videos on the VM just fine. When remote user RDS from ThinPC, can barely watch anything. Network issue?
ThinPC: Windows 7 Embedded 32-bit with RDP 7.1 using T1 line. I don't think adding GPU and enable RemoteFX will help?
VMs on Hyper-V: Windows 7 Enterprise 32-bit RPD 8.1
Please advise and if you can refer any consultant company can help implement a seamless VDI infrastructure? Remote Locations are all over the county. Please let me know.

Hi,
After adding physical memory to my host, I lost connectivity to all my guests. Two days I'm on, can't find why.
I have 5 Nic on the host :
Two are teamed for NAS access
Two are teamed for host internet access
One is reserverd for vswitch
My host has 172.16.4.10 ip with 172.16.4.1 Gateway (my Cisco router)
My guest has 172.16.4.17 ip with same gateway
My vswitch has 172.16.4.150 ip with or without Gateway (I tried both) with or without shared connection (I tried both)
From my host I can ping the guest with no problem. From other machine on the subnet, the ping fail.
From my guest I can't ping my host neither the Gateway.
Some help wll be appreciated, I don't know what to do next...Regards

I remote into Server 1 and open Hyper-V Manager and when clicked on Server 1, 35 VMs shows up and when click on Server 2 "The Operation on computer "Server 2" failed.

I just finished installing Hyper-V on my windows server 2012 and I created My first VM. I'm trying to install OS from CD/DVD drive but it won't boot. It shows "Boot Failure. Reboot from a proper boot device..".
I tried setting up another server the same way and the VM on the other server also shows the same error.
I have CD set as first boot up option in BIOS. I have only one CD drive on my server which I have set my VM to start booth with.
So, what could be the problem?

2. Need to import it to Server 2008 R2 Host.
3 Get an error:
Import failed. Import failed. Unable to find virtual machine import files under location … You can import a virtual machine only if you used Hyper-V to create and export it.”
The question:
Is it possible at all to import VM created on Windows 10/Server 2012 to Server 2008 HOST?

I have a 2008 R2 VM running on a Hyper-v 2012 server. I would like to update the VM integration services to the newer 2012 version. When I insert the integration services iso it asks if I want to upgrade this installation and I click OK. The installation starts and when it gets to the installing guest componets step if fails with the error "and error has occurred: one of the update processes returned error code 3017"
I've tried turning off the offering of integration services on the VM settings.
Delete the wdf01000.sys and wdfldr.sys files from c:\windows\system32\drivers
I have tried stopping the hyper-v services on the VM
Looked at the detect HAL setting in msconfig, but that is not an option in R2 apparently.
I suspect this VM would also not have installed updated integration services when it was on a 2008 hyper-v host either, but not positive.

I have 3 VM in Hyper-V Cluster Lab. When I migration 3 VM from one node to other node, one VM can not, 2 other VM can. I check Event:

I have two identical HP servers, HP storage and both servers connected through fiber with storage. I have few questions before installing Hyper-V clustering and virtual machines.
1. What is the best practice for creating Hard Disk, which one better IDE or SCSI?
2. After selecting Hard Disk, which one is better for installing VM, physical disk or Virtual Hard Disk?
3. I have one usb dongle connected to physical disk, how I can link with VM?
4. If I have 2 Processors having 12 Core and 24 logical Processors, which is the best practice to assign processors to VM. Like if I have 6 Virtual machines having 1 Exchange, 1 SQL, 1 File Server, 1 Web server and two others, how to calculate?
5. If I want to do sql clustering, One sql machine on first server and One sql machine on Second Server. What is the best scenario to accomplish the task.
6. If I make Hyper-V clustering for both physical servers and install VM on first server and add the vm in hyper-v clustering role. In that case if First physical server down then the VM will transfer to other machine. But If VM is down then what will happened?

I am facing issue in Live Migration of Virtual Machine in Windows 2012 R2 Hyper-V Clustering. Below is the details for my Current Setup.
Two Windows 2012 R2 Datacenter same specs server (HV01 and HV02) both clustered
One virtual Machine created on Cluster Share Volume (c:\Cluster storage\....)
One Network card dedicated to Server Management -> 10.0.1.11 (HV01) and 10.0.1.13 (HV02)
One Network card dedicated to Hyper -V Virtual Machines -> 10.0.1.12 (HV01) and 10.0.1.14 (HV02) and allow management network option is disabled.
One Network Card for Heart Beat -> 10.0.20.1 (HV01) and 10.0.20.2 (HV02)
One Network card dedicated for Live Migration -> 10.10.10.50 (HV01) and 10.10.10.51 (HV02) and selected for use only for live migration in Fail over cluster network settings
I added the Virtual Machine to Failover Cluster successfully without any error and warning. When I am doing quick migration its working fine but when I am doing live migration its giving error 21502.
Kindly update what is wrong with my configuration

I read a couple posts of others asking if the issue has been solved of not being able to start a vm whilst Windows Server Backup is running?
I would appreciate some clarity or answer has this been resolved? Do I have to wait until the backup is complete?

I have a laptop running Windows-10 Pro and have installed Hyper-V and wish to create a Virtual machine in order to be able to create a test environment. When I create a VM I can install a Windows 10 operating system but it is unlicensed.
Can someone please advise me if my laptop's Windows 10 license allow me to create VM machines or do I need to purchase a separate windows license for each VM machine I create?
The laptop came with Windows-10 home, and I upgraded it to Windows 10 pro but I don't recall ever being given a license key and there is no license sticker shown on the laptop (HP Spectra X360).
In the past when I have dabbled with VM machines I have had to give up being totally defeated in not being able to understand the licensing arrangements that often seem to make experimenting unaffordable.
Any guidance would be appreciated.

I have an lab setup to test some vm's most server 2012 R2 VM's. Often I have slow UEFI boot an vhdx. I stopes long time showing an "Hyper-V" logo and some circled dots. And it kan take 20 - 60 minutes to boot an host.
Where to start trouble shooting?

A characteristic of the project is that HYPER-V will be installed in SSD.
Some recommendation on the logs? Would it be suitable to move them to LUNs in the shared storage?
What logs should it move?
