Hi,
I'm having a weird problem. I have been successfully running a number of VMs under Server 2008 R2 SP1 for a while now. I upgraded to Server 2012 (in-place) and now I get the 'name' could not initialize error.
I have:
- Gone into the BIOS to verify IntelVT and No Execute were both enabled still
- Created a new VM and tried to start it
- Disabled IntelVT into the BIOS - this yields a 'hypervisor not running' error when attempting to start
- Re-enabled IntelVT
- Uninstalled the HyperV role
- Reinstalled the HyperV role
What I have noticed is that when I run CoreInfo, Intels processor utility or the tool from GRC, they all say my processor does not support hardware assisted virtualization.
I know it does, I've been using it for ages under Server 2008 R2 SP1. The processor is an Intel E8200 core2duo and when I check Intels site, I see what I expect:

So, why, under Server 2012 do the tools detect my processor as not supporting it?
I'm at a loss, truly, I have no idea what to do (short of blowing away the box and running Server 2008 R2 SP1 again).
Anyone any ideas?
(And yes, hypervisorlaunchtype is set to auto)
